ayurvedic khichdi

groundnut oil - 1/2 tbsp
bay leaf - 1/2 pc
cardamom - 1 pc
cinnamon - 1/2 pc
clove - 1 pc
cumin - 1 tsp
hing - 1 tsp
onion - 1/2 pc
green chilli - 1 pc
peas - ¼ cup
ginger - 1/2 inch
garlic - 2 clove
tomato - 1/2 pc
carrot - 1/2 pc
capsicum - 1/2 pc
turmeric / haldi - ¼ tsp
red chilli powder - 1/4 tsp
coriander leaves - 1 sprig
rock salt - to taste
rice - 1/2 cup
moong dal - ¼ cup
steps to do
in a pressure cooker, heat ghee and saute bay leaf, cardamom, cinnamon, cloves, cumin and hing.
add onions and saute with green chili, ginger and garlic until onions are translucent
saute tomatoes till they turn soft and mushy and add the remaining vegetables.
add the spices and mix until well combined.
now add rice and moong dal. saute for a minute on low flame.
add water and cook for 5 whistles. garnish with coriander leaves and enjoy!
