moong dal cheela with paneer stuffing

ingredients

  • curry leaves- 1 sprig

  • coriander leaves- 1 sprig

  • ginger- 1 inch

  • green chilli- 1 pc

  • wood pressed groundnut oil- 0.5 tbsp

  • hing (asafoetida)- 0.25 tsp

  • fenugreek seeds (methi dana)- 0.5 tsp

  • mustard seeds (rai)- 1 tsp

  • paneer- 100 gms

  • red chilli powder- 0.5 tsp

  • rock salt (pink himalayan)- 1 tsp

  • turmeric powder- 1 tsp

  • water- 0.5 cup

  • yellow moong dal- 0.75 cup

steps to do

1. grind the soaked dal to a smooth paste along with green chili, and ginger until the batter becomes smooth in consistency.
2. in a bowl, add spices, salt and whisk for next 5 – 10 minutes using a hand mixer or wire whisk.

Set aside till required.

how to prepare cheela stuffing:

1. heat oil in a frying pan or kadhai. dd mustard seeds, curry leaves, and grated ginger. fry for 1 – 2 seconds or till seeds start spluttering.
2. add chopped onion and fry the onion for 1 – 2 minute. next, add the grated paneer, chopped capsicum (optional) and mash them nicely to avoid any lumps.
3. add salt, spices, coriander, and mix nicely. turn off the heat. transfer paneer stuffing to a bowl.

how to make cheela:

1. heat a heavy bottom non-stick pan and sprinkle little water and grease it with teaspoon of ghee/ oil.
2. pour a ladle full of batter in the centre of the pan. using the back of the ladle, spread the batter in circular motion into a thin round.
3. drizzle a teaspoon of oil on the sides of the cheela and cook on medium heat till chilla turns brown and flip it carefully.
4. spread ¼ Cup of of potato stuffing on one side of the cheela.
5. cover the stuffing with the other half of the cheela. transfer to a plate. serve Moong Dal Cheela with homemade green chutney.
