saffron rice

2 cups

ingredients

  • basmati rice - 1/2 cup

  • rock salt (pink Himalayan) - to taste

  • water - 1 ½ cup

  • wood pressed groundnut oil - 1 tbsp

  • saffron strands - 3 pc

steps to do

  1. rinse and soak basmati rice in cold water. drain and set it aside.

  2. grind saffron strands and let it infuse in warm water for color and flavor.

  3. in a pot, add water and bring it to a boil and add the soaked rice. reduce the heat to low, cover the pot with a lid, and let the rice simmer for about 15-20 minutes, or until the water is absorbed, and the rice is tender.

  4. add the rock salt to taste and mix well.

  5. pour the saffron-infused water over the rice. mix well and serve.
